Message #DC127; Daily Devotional #6 - “We’re Outta Here”
Preparing the Soil (Introduction): "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:1-3) In these uncertain times these words of Jesus comfort our hearts. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in Me,” He says. As our world dangles by an economic thread, these words mean so much to us who call Him Lord. We need to be reminded daily, and sometimes even hourly, that God and His Son are in complete control of this planet! Plus, we need to remember that where sin abounds, grace much more abounds, and this year could be one of the most exciting yet! Granted, it’s pretty crazy out there, but we have something that the world does not: hope! Dwelling within every Christ follower is the Spirit of God, and He’s staying right here with us to the very end! Yahoo!
Planting and Watering the Seed (Growth): And once that trumpet blasts, we’re outta here! Transported from the earth into the heavenlies, we will finally be with our Lord. I’m not sure what type of place Jesus is preparing for me, but I want my front window to face His throne! And, I want to live as close to Him as absolutely possible. I wonder if He needs a roommate. But, wherever He places me, I will be happy to be in close proximity to the Lord of Glory. Anyplace even remotely close to Him has got to be better than where I am now! Even though I have never seen heaven, I am still homesick for it. I can only imagine how wonderfully beautiful it will be, and I long to see His face and hear Him speak my name! And with verses like these, my longing worsens!
Harvesting the Crop (Action/Response): Yet, here I am, still in this world with a job to do. Apparently, since I’m still here, there is a purpose for me, and I must commit to His will for my life. And, I must admit, this really is an exciting time to be alive, and I am blessed to be an “end time saint.” How will it all end? I have no clue, but I do know that my Heavenly Father has everything under control, and that Jesus Christ is Lord of All. I am completely persuaded that there is a plan for my life and Spiritual forces in place to help me get to where I’m going, wherever that is. And, at the end of this road, Jesus has prepared a place just for me and has been diligent in His design. He alone knows my heart and can’t wait to spend eternity with me! And the feeling is absolutely mutual!
