Bible College Certificates of Achievement

 Certificate of Achievement Bible College
Calvary Chapel Melbourne will begin issuing Certificates of Achievement to students who have completed twelve key courses in the Bible College with grades of B or higher.  The key courses are:  the complete survey (Old Testament 1 and 2, and New Testament 1 and 2), a major Old Testament book (such as Genesis), a major New Testament epistle (such as Romans), the Gospel of John, Biblical Theology, Hermeneutics, Apologetics, and two electives.

Exciting New Course – Power Hermeneutics

This hands-on course will enable the student to dig into the original biblical languages (Greek and Hebrew) without years of language study, memorization, etc.  Students will learn how to interpret (hermeneutics) and draw out the meaning (exegesis) of whatever part of the Bible they are studying, whether for ministry, teaching, Bible College, or devotions.  Students will need a personal laptop and will be required to purchase the Logos 4 Scholar’s library software bundle.

Class begins Saturday September 4, 2010 (Melbourne campus) from 4 – 5:30 p.m.  Room D210-211
Contact Shawn Barr, shawnbarr@calvaryccm.com

Note:  In addition to the normal class tuition, students must own a laptop and purchase the Logos Scholar’s software for approximately $330 (This is a 50% discount).  The Scholar’s bundle includes approximately 500 online books, commentaries, Bibles, lexicons, and historical works, enough for a lifetime of study.

Apologetics – Defending the Faith

This course helps Christians know what we believe, why we believe it to be true, and how we can know that what we believe is true and trustworthy.  Emphasis will be on the nature of truth, the existence of God, the reliability of the Bible, and core doctrines of the faith.  Two books will be used:  Defending Your Faith: An Introduction to Apologetics, by R.C. Sproul, and When Skeptics Ask: A Handbook of Christian Evidence, by Norman Geisler.

Class begins the week of August 23rd, 2010.  Tuesdays from 7 – 9 pm at Melbourne (Room D201), and Thursdays 7 – 9 pm at Viera (Room 211).  Contact Stan Linder, stanlinder@cfl.rr.com

The Book of Ephesians – Great Theology, Great Grace, Great God!

This verse-by-verse study covers some great theological issues:  the grace of God, the calling of the Christian, the unity of believers, and God’s eternal purposes revealed through Christ.  Paul also lays very practical foundations for how to live the Christian life, even in the face of struggles, spiritual warfare, temptations, and heresies.  Homework will challenge the student to apply the text to his or her own life.
