Update March 25, 2020
Hello Calvary Family,
We have a great resource for you from Prayer Cast to help you know how to pray during this time. The Coronavirus is impacting every part of our world, and is truly a unique moment in our history. There is so much media coverage and headlines going around that can easily cause us to be fearful and anxious but we know God is in control. Let's take this time to do the one thing that cannot be stopped because of any quarantine - pray.
Here are some important truths to remember:
So in all of this, instead of focusing on the media and news headlines, let's fix our eyes on Jesus.
Update March 17, 2020
Hello Calvary Family,
To honor the latest direction from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to restrict gatherings of over 50 people in order to help contain the spread of the Coronavirus, we will be moving weekend services to online through the end of March. We will also be temporarily suspending Wednesday night services, all scheduled events, prison ministry and hospital visitation and all groups which includes, The Harbor, Youth, Kids', Choir, and Youth Outreach Unleashed through the end of March.
All campuses including Calvary Chapel Academy will remain closed to the public through the end of the month.
The Common Grounds Café will be closed through March 29th. Watermark Christian Store will have limited staff and will operate with customers calling 321-952-6470 ahead with what they need with curbside pick-up.
What we're working on for you:
Weekend Services will be streamed at our regular services times (Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 8:30 & 10:45am) to the following platforms:
We know many of you may find yourself having more time alone in the next few weeks which is why we will be posting daily devotionals on our Facebook pages throughout the week to provide you with encouragement and prayer. We will also be posting encouraging scripture and ways for you to continue to be an influence for the Kingdom of God. So get connected with us on social. If you're not on social, make sure to check in with your friends and family through texts and phone calls. We want to do our part to still be a family even though we can't all gather together.
We're praying for you all. Let's make the most of this opportunity to strengthen and encourage one another and love and serve others who are looking for peace and hope. We will keep you updated with more information as it becomes available.
Hello Calvary Family,
We know many of you may be wondering how Calvary is responding to the Coronavirus.
We've been learning on the weekends that no matter what problems we face, God has a solution. So as with everything in life, even Coronavirus, the first thing we all want to do is pray. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." We know that with God in control, we don't need to be afraid.
There are currently no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Brevard or Indian River County. However, we respect personal convictions that some may have related to attending services or midweek events. We especially encourage those who are more susceptible to illness (i.e., the elderly and those with compromised immune systems) to show even more prudence. We encourage you to be gracious and understanding to those who may respond differently or react more strongly to this concern.
Here at Calvary, we have taken everything happening with the Coronavirus seriously. When our Facilities Team first heard of Coronavirus about two months ago, they immediately began researching what cleaning measures we would need to take to keep our buildings sanitized. Here are some of the things already taking place:
Throughout our campuses, the efforts we are currently taking meet or exceed the recommendations from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). In our common areas, we wipe down handles, railings, and high traffic surfaces. In our Kids' Ministry, we wipe down toys, handles, railings, check-in stations, and all surfaces before and after each service. If you are uncomfortable touching the Kids' check-in stations, just let one of our volunteers know and they'll be happy to assist you.
Here are a few other ways we are encouraging staff, volunteers, and our Calvary family to exercise prudence even beyond our weekend and midweek events:
We have told you all of this, not so that you would be fearful, but so that you know that your health and safety are our priority as we continue to do what God has called us to do in sharing the gospel, introducing people to the saving power of Jesus, and discipling each of you to continually become more like Jesus.
We are closely monitoring the Coronavirus and information provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and other government agencies. Stay tuned to this page and social media channels for any updates as the situation evolves.
We'll leave you with this verse from Psalm 56:3-4, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise - in God, I trust and am not afraid."
