“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24)
You may recall the Disney character, Buzz Lightyear, from the movie Toy Story. His famous words were, “To Infinity and Beyond.” Isn’t that how we should look to our future with the Lord? As Christians, we have the wonderful hope of spending eternity with our perfect Jesus, in a perfect place, Heaven. That’s our version of ‘to infinity and beyond.’
As we enter the new year of 2019, let’s reflect on 2018 and think about the things we can take forward. What were some of the special moments that stand out? They don’t have to be big events, because Jesus provides blessings in small packages, too. A few of the things the past year brought me were quality time spent with family, traveling, making new friends, and growing relationships with current friends. And, I saw how a devotion I wrote indirectly helped someone come to the Lord!
I am very thankful for the Lord growing me in some needed areas. As I think of all those blessings, whether large or small, I am so thankful for what the Lord has done and is doing in our family. Hopefully, we’ll learn from past mistakes and endeavor to improve in those areas. Hopefully, we will also make some new commitments this year, like spending more time in God’s Word and in prayer, improving our health and improving our relationships.
Wherever the Lord leads you this new year, may He continue to prepare you to join Him for all eternity…‘to infinity and beyond.’
