For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
Paul was convinced there was not a place where God's love could not reach him. No matter where he was in the world, no matter the failures of his flesh, nor thoughts he might have or demonic activity that plagued him, he believed that NOTHING could separate him from God's love. Paul understood that no invisible line he might step over would cause God's love to cease. If there was, the word "unconditional" must become "conditional."
God's amazing love caused Him to sacrifice His very own Son for frail, unpredictable, ungrateful mankind. Even the cruel Cross remains an eternal sign of God's love for His creation. It was the place where Jesus Christ literally poured out His life because He loved us so much. Despite our idolatry and fascination with the "dark side," He continues to see the best in us. He continues to bless us and offers us all things pertaining to peace and Godliness.
We have such an amazing Father. Like Paul, we should be convinced of our God's affection and approval and be joyfully busy working in the Kingdom. Thankfully, we do not have to struggle to be free, but conversely, we are free to struggle. Even when we fail, or stumble along the way, we can hear the voice of God's Spirit encouraging us to come alongside and be refreshed by His Presence. How tenuous we are and how forgiving He is.
So, let’s embrace the love of our God today. Let’s sing, rejoice and praise His precious Name. We, who were once so far away, have been gracefully grafted into His Vine and embraced by His loving heart.
