I AM = More Than Enough

In response to Moses’ request to know the name of the God of Israel, God said, I AM WHO I AM  (Exodus 3:14) “I AM”--a seemingly simple statement, yet, considering Who God is, it could almost appear to be an understatement. In His wisdom, God knew that Moses couldn’t comprehend all that God is. How can God, Who had no beginning and no end, explain all that He is to a created being? In this context, He was telling Moses that He, God, would be enough for the mission He was sending Moses to do.

This weekend, Pastor Mark taught about many of the things that God (I AM) is:

God is self-existent
God is self-sufficient
God is eternal
God is sovereign
God is incomprehensible

Although this is by no means an exhaustive list of all that God is, it is enough for us to know that God is all that we, His children, need to live confidently and victoriously. Just as God had a plan for Moses, the “Great I AM” has plans for you. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:1). God’s plan for each of us may not be as detailed as the one He gave Moses, but the assurances are the same:

God will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go. (Psalm 32:8)
God will never leave nor forsake us. (Deuteronomy 31:6Hebrews 13:5)
God will strengthen us to do all things through Him. (Philippians 4:13)
God will supply all our needs, according to His (not ours!) riches. (Philippians 4:19)

Are you facing a daunting trial or seemingly impossible need today? Be assured that God has known about it since before you were born. The only thing that is new is that God is choosing to let you in on His plan. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. (Joshua 1:5).

As Pastor Mark said, there are things that only God can do, and things that only you can do. Seek the Great I AM! Read God’s Word every day. Seek the understanding of Who He is. Live confidently in the expectation that He will empower you to do His will on earth. Expect Him to do it! I AM is more than enough for you!
