A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

“Beware of the false prophets, [teachers] who come to you dressed as sheep [appearing gentle and innocent], but inwardly are ravenous wolves. (Matthew 7:15 AMP)

We have all read or heard the story, “Little Red Riding Hood.” We are familiar with the scene of the wolf who is pretending to be the grandmother in order to trick Red Riding Hood, so that he could eat her. Today’s world is not much different. The wolf is always preying on the weak, always looking for a way to devour its next victim.

This weekend I was reminded of just how powerful the wolf has become. Our world is moving further and further away from Biblical principles and Godliness. People are looking for ways and reasons to dismiss the true character of God and who He is. While at a family gathering, I heard someone say that God is just an “energy.” I also heard someone say that God is genderless, since so many people identify as genderless. Both people that made these statements also claim to be Christians. They are involved in a church and even go on mission trips sharing God’s Word. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Doing and saying just enough of the right things, that for someone that does not know the truth of God’s word could be fooled.

Study the Word of God and know the truth. Do not be fooled by false teaching. Keep God’s Word embedded on your heart and draw near to Him.
