This past weekend’s teaching was like a state of the union address. Our church is healthy, CCM is alive, and well flourishing under the power of the Holy Spirit! It is 3 campuses united by one God, multiple ministries united in one purpose, all to know God and make God known.
The youth in our church are in good hands because the Good Shepherd chose the right group of people for leadership in His ministries. You’ve heard it said that it takes a village to raise a child; no! It takes an army of volunteers, parents, peers, and staff working together under Divine influence pouring into their lives. We have amazing people who pull together in His name, for His glory. You all are a part of that team as we’re just diverse parts of one body. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
The Youth Pastors shared messages of truth that encouraged and educated all believers, not just young people. The Christian way is simple, but not easy. It’s a two-step dance we can condense to “Love God, Love people.”. Jesus told us Himself that it’s the greatest commandment (Matthew 22:36-39). Young or old, we should filter everything we think, say, or do through that perspective. Love God first and all else will fall into place. He says if you love Me, keep My commands (John 14:15). God's will is found in His Word and His commandments. And He is looking for people who love Him enough to obey Him instead of doing their own will. Let’s be honest and consider how well we love and obey then get down on our knees and thank Him for grace!
Those around us can usually tell if we walk the walk and the talk we talk, or if it’s just lip service. Young people especially can spot a phony. Even if we can fool others, God still knows. We want to live lives pure and Holy worthy of what Jesus has done for us. That means we don’t act one way in church and another way outside. I need help regularly and when we need help, we can go to the cross right now. Jesus died so we can be free!
It’s apparent that the army who care about our youth are the real deal. Listening to stories bearing testament to changed young lives was such an inspiration and challenged me to my core. Let’s all pray to our Father and ask Him to light or rekindle the same fire in our hearts for those He puts in our lives near and far, young and old, and everywhere in between.
