When you think about paradise, whether the millennium paradise or even Heaven, what is the first thing that comes to mind. Are you’re looking forward to not existing? The first thing that comes to my mind is fear. In paradise, I’m looking forward to there being no fear. Fear is paralyzing; it makes us do things we otherwise wouldn’t, and not do things we otherwise would. When it comes to trusting in God to accomplish the impossible in our lives, it’s often fear that keeps us from having the faith needed.
In my life fear has kept me from fully stepping into what I feel God is calling me to do. Fear has kept me from fully pursuing dreams or sharing ideas, or really sharing much at all. Fear is gripping and it holds us from fully accomplishing God’s will in our lives. So, the question is, since I’m not in paradise at this moment, and neither are you, how do we move forward? I think the answer is faith.
The one thing that can conquer fear in our lives is faith. Faith in God changes our perspective and it changes our heart. It diminishes doubt and casts away fear. Faith keeps us focused on following in the footsteps of Jesus, which means we’re focused on showing love and compassion to our neighbor. As we look forward to paradise, let’s be praying for just a little bit of that paradise to flow into our lives today. Let’s ask God to replace our fear, or anger, or depression, or anxiety, or hurt, or whatever it is with faith. Faith strong enough to move mountains and faith strong enough to conquer the darkness of this world.
