Go with What You Know

As one who likes my “I” s dotted and my “t” s crossed, I can become unsettled at not knowing all the details of upcoming events. This weekend Pastor Mark taught about the millennial reign of Christ on earth. As he said, it’s hard enough for me to deal with 60-80 years, let alone 1000 years! As wonderful as it will be, it is difficult for me to imagine a world where Satan is bound, a glorified body and true peace on earth. While I don’t understand it all, I do know that I am looking forward to it!

Before the 1,000-year reign of Christ on this earth, there is coming a time of unparalleled tribulation. Evil will have full reign. While it is difficult for me to imagine a world void of evil, it is terrifying to think of a world where evil is totally unleashed, devouring people in unprecedented, horrifying terror. And while I don’t fully understand all of that, I am grateful that Christ followers will not have to go through that.

So, as Christ followers, what is our message to the world around us? What do we know that they need to know?

1. We are all sinners and need Christ as our Savior (Romans 3:23Romans 6:23).
2. Salvation is only through Christ (Acts 4:12).
3. Salvation is through faith, not works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
4. Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), and He commissioned us, His followers, to do the same (Matthew 28:19-20).
5. We don’t know how much longer we must tell others (Matthew 24:36).

Everyday, we encounter people we know, people we have never met and people we may never meet again. We may know their names, where they live, etc., but do we know about their relationship with Christ? Is He their Lord and Savior, or just someone they have given mental ascent to as the Son of God, or, perhaps, just another great teacher? What is our responsibility to them? We need to prayerfully ask God to open our eyes to doors of opportunity to share the Gospel with others. We may not be able to reach every individual we meet, but are we passing by the ones that God wants us to share the Gospel with? We need to ask for discernment and boldness making use of those doors of opportunity God has for us. Go with what you know!
