“If you can recommend a good doctor, you can recommend Jesus!” Simple yet profound. This past weekend Pastor Beau explained the nature of Christ’s kingdom; Jesus our Messiah, our Judge, King, our Truth. Then he reminded us of where we believers are positioned as overcomers and victors. Finally, he challenged us to share that knowledge with others.
The doctor analogy really hit home with me. As I get older my body just isn’t what it used to be. Aches and pains are more common now. I’m in the season of life where I need to be more deliberate in how I take care of myself. I know what I’m supposed to do, even when I don’t do it.
That’s probably why we need more medical guidance as we approach our later years. It’s a fact of life that we’re all slowly dying. Unless we’re raptured into heaven, physical death awaits us all. Earthly death doesn’t sound too encouraging. But we can take heart that we’ll be passing on to eternal life after this world and that’s the precious hope others need to know about.
Sometimes, when we see a Doctor, they refer us to another doctor. I guess it’s good that they know their limitations well enough to make a recommendation for someone with greater expertise. Recently, my foot doctor recommended a rheumatologist in town who is supposed to be very good. That doctor is apparently selective in accepting patients since I had to submit information and make several calls, hoping he’d take me on as a patient. I’d like an appointment because a man I trust told me this person could help me. We put our trust in people who we think can help us. How much more we can all put our trust in Jesus!
Christmas celebrates the birth of our Savior, when God became the man, Jesus Christ, to live among us. His Holy Spirit is still here living in us and calling us to share the hope of salvation through Jesus. He’s not exclusive. He came for everyone! There are people who trust you and ask you for recommendations. Send them to Jesus! He’s the solution for every problem.
This holiday season, today, right now, recommend Jesus!
