Watching and Waiting

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 15:5-6)

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if The Lord does call us all home tomorrow? What a wonderful day it would be!  Only the Father knows the exact time that the trumpet will sound to call us home for eternity.  So, we will endure with patience and encouragement until that great day arrives.  We have been anointed to wait, and even be victorious in the process. While He tarries, we will continue to love, evangelize, minister and give great grace to a dying world.

Even Jesus had to wait for the exact time that the Father had established for His betrayal, death and resurrection. Always in obedience, He too waited patiently for that final hour. Yet, even in betrayal and chaos, He took a moment to restore the ear of one of the men that came to take Him captive. Now that’s grace! But some folks, I’m afraid, are not waiting so graciously. Some reports are saying that people are frantically selling all their belongings, some are spending hundreds of dollars on pet insurance for their animals that will be left behind and that the atheists will be throwing “rapture parties.” God must be sitting in heaven shaking His head in wonder at His creation.

So here we are, waiting and watching, which is exactly what we are supposed to do. Jesus said in Matthew 23:42: “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” And while we wait, we will continue to encourage one another in our most holy faith. No matter what anyone says, we will rely on The Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. We will stand in peace, because we have cast our confidence in the sacrifice of our Lord. We will continue to press into our calling as the children of God and we will continue to glorify His Name in all the earth.

Do I hope He calls us all home tomorrow? Yeah! But, if He doesn’t, I’m OK with that too, because I have been guaranteed a glorious future in Christ, both here in the earth, and with Him in heaven for eternity!
