Change begins by getting saved
The word 'Saved' has been used and misused in today's fast paced modern life, so before we explain how you can be 'saved', let's talk about what it means. Simply put, 'being saved' means that you have accepted the free gift of salvation offered by Jesus Christ to all people. It is more than an event; it is the beginning of the most fulfilling lifestyle a person can attain here on earth. Now that you know what salvation is, here is how to get started:
You’re a sinner. Face it. We’ve all blown it and we need a Savior. Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Every person ever born, throughout all time was born a sinner. Each of us must realize that this sin separates us from a PERFECT God. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Jesus died on the cross for you. God’s solution for our sin problem is found in His Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." What does this mean? This means that right now, today, you can be saved...
Repent means to make a change of direction. We need to be sorry enough for our sins to turn away from things that don’t please God and toward the things that do. Romans 10:9 "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." This is GOOD news! Look carefully at this scripture. Speak it, believe it, and then know you will be saved. This verse can radically transform your life.
Jesus is your personal Lord and Savior. Don’t try to get it together before you come to God! He cleans us up, forgives our sins and gives us a fresh start when we yield our lives to Him. John 1:12 "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" This verse is great comfort. You are no longer who you were, but now you are a child of the living God.
Becoming a Christ follower is not an event. It’s the greatest lifestyle in the world and the best decision you will ever make! John 15:4-5 "Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." Getting saved is not only an event. It is a lifestyle.
