One Thing

David Palmisano

Luke 10:38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.

  • Priority: Allow time for Holy Spirit detours
  • Detour: When God CHANGES man’s plans.

Psalm 90:12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

  • Pastor Mark: Wisdom: living life according to God’s point of view and His values.
  • Detours ALWAYS take time

Luke 10:39-40 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

  • Priority: Resist distractions
  • Distracted: When man changes God’s plans/priorities.

Luke 10:41-42 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

  • Priority: Seek devotion to Jesus.

Jeremiah 29:13 You will SEEK me and find when you SEEK me with all your heart.

Psalm 27:1,8 There is ONE THING I seek to dwell in house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and seek him in his temple. 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face! Your face, Lord, I will seek.”

Revelation 3:20 (NLT) Look! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.

Matthew 26:26-27 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks, and broke it, and gave it to His disciples saying, “Take and eat this is my body.” 27Then he took the cup, gave thanks, and offered it to them, saying, “Drink this is my blood shed for you for the forgiveness of sins.”
