Christ came to set us free and what He did on the cross changed everything for everyone. In Christ we are ONE.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
· Chuck Swindoll: “His plan extends beyond salvation to sanctification, beyond standing in grace to walk in good deeds.”
Ephesians 2:11 (NLT) Don't forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called "uncircumcised heathens" by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts.
Colossians 2:11 (NLT) When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature.
Ephesians 2:12-14 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
· We were once Christless---- BUT NOW --- we are in Christ
· We were once Stateless--- BUT NOW --- we are Full Citizens
· We were once Friendless --- BUT NOW--- we are members of God’s Family
· We were once Hopeless--- BUT NOW--- we are promised a Glorious Future
· We were once Godless--- BUT NOW --- we can call God our Father
Galatians 3:28-29 (NLT) There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God's promise to Abraham belongs to you.
· When we are In Christ, we are ONE FAMILY, with ONE MISSION that leads to ONE ETERNITY
Ephesians 2:14 For he himself is our peace,
· Win, Disciple and Send
· The word reconcile means “to bring together again.”
Ephesians 2:15 by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace,
2 Corinthians 5:15 (NLT) He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
· Heart Check: Who are we living for?
Ephesians 2:16-22 and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. 19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
Acts 7:48-50 "However, the Most High does not live in houses made by men. As the prophet says: 49 "'Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord. Or where will my resting place be? 50 Has not my hand made all these things?'
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
Matthew 16:18 (ESV) And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
· Temples have come and gone but, Jesus’s Church will not Fall
· Three questions
· Do I really Believe this?
· Have I actually received it?
· Am I living like it?
