White As Snow

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV)

Have you ever really considered how dumb it is to rebel against God? He is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent, yet we have all repeatedly sinned against the Lord. All sin is rebellion against God, and it has been hardwired into every single one of us since Adam and Eve.

As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one.” Romans 3:10

Although we like to see ourselves as being rational people, we are not. If we were completely rational, we would know it's futile to struggle against God. Why do we do it? Because every strand of our DNA is soaked in our sin nature. On our own, we cannot fix ourselves. There is only one solution to our dilemma, and the Lord freely offers it to us.

“…and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood.” Revelation 1:5

We must be washed in the blood of Jesus to remove the stain of our sin. If you've ever gotten blood on a white garment, you know the stain is almost impossible to remove. Yet the Lord proclaims the crimson stain of our sin will be made white as snow by the shed blood of Jesus. In Isaiah’s time, the people's sin could only be temporarily covered by the blood of animals. Because they continued to sin, they needed continuous cleansing.

Those animal sacrifices all happened under the old covenant, before Jesus shed His blood for us. As Christ Followers, we are blessed to live after Jesus died on the cross. Because we asked Jesus into our lives and repented of our sins, He made us permanently righteous… white as snow! Our sin that permanently stained us was washed clean by Jesus’ blood, the only way to launder sin away.

If you are struggling with shame, guilt, or remorse from your prior sins, struggle no more. God sees you as righteous because you have been washed clean by Jesus. In God's eyes, you are now white as snow. This gift has been given to us with Jesus’ eternal love. Receive it!
