Perspective

The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.

He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever.

He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.

For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.

He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. Psalm 103:8-12 (NLT)

Perspective... It's how we view or interpret our situation; it's the viewpoint from which we see something. I volunteer at a place that gives me the opportunity to provide a new, godly perspective to fearful people who have no hope. Knowing God's perspective towards us helps us understand and accept His love and forgiveness. When we have the right perspective, our trials can lead us closer to God. He often uses life's unexpected, difficult circumstances as tools to mold us.

The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him. For He knows how weak we are; He remembers we are only dust.” Psalm 103:13-14 (NLT)

Our Heavenly Father draws us near out of love and compassion. He reaches out to us because He knows how weak we are. He knows when we're ashamed about what we have (or haven't) done, which can cause us to shrink back in fear. Remember, God already knows everything about us, and He still loves us! He knew every detail of our lives before we ever took our first breath.

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalm 139:16 (NLT)

God's perspective is pure LOVE, and He set redemption in motion when He sent Jesus to the cross. The hope the gospel provides isn't based on what we do, our hope comes from what JESUS already did! What a relief... God didn't leave it up to us to figure out how to get out of the mess we've made. Because Jesus identified with us, we can identify with others who are hopeless. One of the greatest joys a Christ Follower can have is leading someone to The Lord, and at the foot of the cross they will find the hope they need. They won't just find hope, they will learn how to see themselves as God sees them, from His higher perspective!

Billy Graham said it like this; "Life is just a schoolroom with a glorious opportunity to prepare us for eternity." Billy had a great, godly perspective!
