Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
“I believe in the sun, even when it is not shining.
I believe in love, even when there’s no one there.
And I believe in God, even when He is silent.”
Those amazing words were carved on the wall of a concentration camp during World War 2. The author's faith in God during the worst possible moments of their life is inspiring... But God's Word says we can trust that He is always with us, in good times and bad, and in the darkest times of our lives.
Right now, there is an alarming number of Christians being killed in Nigeria. But the number of Christians who have become martyrs for their faith is staggering! It's happening because Satan has been trying to eliminate Christians for a long time. When our world isn't making sense, we can find comfort and strength in our God. When world news seems depressing, we can find hope because we know how the story ends (Psalm 22:28). But as the body of Christ (His church) we are obligated to help those persecuted Christians through our prayers.
Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Hebrews 13:3
"Father, bring protection and comfort to our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering. Lord, encourage the ones who are being persecuted for their faith and all those who are imprisoned. May they feel your presence with them even in their darkest moments and help them endure their trials with courage and faith."
"Lord, remind them that they are not alone, and may they always feel your presence. Heavenly Father, protect your children from the enemy and guide them to eternal victory. Help them remain strong and encouraged during their trials and remind them of the crown of life you have promised to give them. Give them your wisdom, give them courage, and help them trust you completely."
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
Christ follower, let’s unite our faith and be known as a church who prays. Specifically, let's pray for the believers who are being persecuted in Nigeria, and the martyred and imprisoned believers worldwide.
