Strength in Trials

 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

Upon receiving the devastating news that our friend's grandson's had suddenly passed, our hearts shattered for the family. They are Christ followers, but they will undoubtedly need the support and encouragement of their church family as they navigate through the grieving process. Amidst their strong faith, this family is faced with a sudden, fiery trial. A Christ followers unwavering faith is what sustains them during trying times like this. Having a personal relationship with the Lord is our source of strength, and it prepares us to endure trials and difficult times.

Some people believe that being a Christ follower will shield them from trials. However, trials are an inevitable part of life, especially in our fallen world. Yet, in our trials, we can always rely on Christ's presence every step of the way. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of Christ, no matter what the trial is. The apostle Paul reminds us, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” Romans 8:35

Remember, in the midst of every trial, the Holy Spirit is inside us. He offers us wisdom, guidance, comfort, and encouragement. The book of Daniel exemplifies steadfast faith in the face of adversity. Despite the envy of others, plots against him, and dangerous situations, Daniel remained faithful to God. When he faced his most extreme trial in the lion's den, Daniel's faith and personal relationship with God is what sustained him. (Daniel 6)

Are you currently enduring a fiery trial of your own? Do you feel weary and burdened? Draw strength from Christ, and know that He is present with you. Seek solace in His promises found in His word. You are His beloved child, and He eagerly waits for you to cast your burdens upon Him. Eventually, we will all face trials, but with God's help, a wise person learns and grows as they go through them.

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

Be assured, through Christ, we can overcome any of life's challenges!
