However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him— 1 Corinthians 2:9
When I know out-of-town guests are coming, I work hard to properly prepare their space. First, I make sure their bedding is clean and fresh. Next, I pull out my best bath towels, fold them nicely, and make them easy to find. Then I clean the entire guest bathroom from top to bottom. The reason I go to so much trouble is that my guests matter to me. I want their experience to be positive, and I want to show them how special they are to me. But all my efforts are minuscule compared to God's! In John 14, Jesus says He is preparing a place for us in Heaven. It's not only a place, it's our new home... our heavenly, eternal home.
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:2-3
I'm a country-loving girl who loves nature, and I have a pretty good imagination. When guests are due to arrive, I love to use a few of my favorite colors and special decor to bring the outside in. If time allows, I purchase a bouquet of flowers for their bedroom and place a favorite candle on the bathroom vanity. But the One who knows me best has prepared a special place just for me, one that fits my personality and His divine purpose. Christ follower, God has prepared a spectacular place for you, one He divinely decorated with loving, tender care. When that day arrives, we'll never need to pack, move, or travel again, we'll be home!
We can read about heaven; we can try to imagine heaven... but the best thing to look forward to in heaven is being in God's presence 24/7.
