You are God's MASTERPIECE

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

Some translations say masterpiece; others say handiwork or workmanship. All of them remind us we are God's "work of art" that He uniquely created. Each of our lives have God's design, purpose, and meaning built into them! The National Gallery of Art in Washington DC is an amazing collection of original masterpieces. Each piece of art has been given a title, which helps its viewers understand the idea behind its creation. One of those masterpieces is called “Woman with a Parasol.” As I viewed it, I saw how the artist captured the freedom of a woman and her son in their surroundings. That painting is known for symbolizing shelter, protection, and nurturing. To me, it sounds a lot like what God does for us!

If my life was a portrait, what would it reveal to the world? Would it portray my freedom in Christ? Am I comfortable in my surroundings enough to share Jesus? When people look at my life do they see God’s protection, nurturing, and peace? Like that woman with a parasol, am I enjoy the beauty of God's creation?

...each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that. 1 Corinthians 7:7

God gives each of His masterpieces spiritual gifts. Be sure to discover and learn how to use your spiritual gift. It’s part of what makes us unique! If you don't know how, sign up for a S.H.A.P.E. class at CCM this summer! Don't be nervous, it's just a class designed to help you. It will help you discover who God created you to be, and discovering your gift will help you uncover your uniqueness.

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 1 Corinthians 12:1

Don't be uninformed! Here's a few things I learned when I took a S.H.A.P.E. class:

  1. God has gifted all of His children for greatness.
  2. Our spiritual gifts aren't about us; they are all about God!
  3. After we learn what it is, God will help us “fan the flame” of our gift.
  4. Using our spiritual gifts leads to greater fulfillment and increases our faith.
  5. Spiritual gifts are empowered by the Holy Spirit, and they are shared in love.
  6. Using our gifts pleases God, but He will hold us accountable if we DON"T use our gift.

When we use our spiritual gifts God's kingdom expands and His church grows. When each of us are using our gifts, God’s purpose and plan for our lives is fulfilled!
