Peace and Order in the Chaos

For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. 1 Corinthians 14:33
My husband and son recently returned from a visit to Japan. They had an amazing time, but a key thing on my husband’s to do list was the Shibuya scramble crossing. If you are not familiar with the Shibuya scramble, it is the busiest pedestrian intersection in the world. An estimated 3,000 people cross this intersection at the same time every 2 minutes! Simply mind blowing! That many people crossing the street at the same time sounds chaotic, but my husband said it was actually very organized.
At times, life can seem like that too. We scramble around, a million things are happening, and everyone is rushing to get somewhere. But if we put God in charge and obey the signs and signals He places before us, there will be peace and order in the chaos. Our God is truly a God of order! There was an order to creation, He ordered Israel how to camp in the wilderness, offerings and sacrifices were prepared and conducted in specific order, honestly the list of order in the bible is endless.
Whenever my own life gets out of order or chaotic, I remind myself it isn't coming from God, it’s just the enemy wreaking havoc. When I stop and think about what the enemy is trying to take away, it’s often my quiet time with God. When I get too busy, or I'm too tired to wake up early, that's when I'm at my weakest. I value the time I spend with God before I start my day, so it's important I don't let Satan interrupt it!
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Psalms 23:2-3
Are you scrambling to get from point A to point B in life? Are you so busy you don't have any time left to spend with God? I admit I'm not in God's Word every day like I should be, because of the enemy's distractions... I encourage you to think about your days, nights, and the use of your time. Is there anything in your life that repeatedly brings disorder? What is the main thing that interrupts your peace? If something comes to mind, re-evaluate your priorities. Maybe it's time to put something "on hold" for a later season of life. No matter the cause, don't forget to ask God to give you His gift of peace.
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)
