We Love You Lord!

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commands depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:35-40

In Matthew 22, Jesus said the two greatest commands are loving God and loving people. Those commands should be ingrained in the heart of every believer. We worship and praise God because we love Him, and Satan hates it when we give God the glory. Satan doesn't like us to show God's love to others either... Why not? Because Satan knows when we show and share God's love, some of those people will become Christ followers. As believers, we are called to be prayer warriors for our nation, its leaders, and God’s people. We can also pray for ourselves as we ask God to give us the strength, power, and wisdom to "do life" His way.

In the Psalms, David often praises God for delivering him from his enemies. For example, Psalm 18 starts with David saying, "I love you, Lord, my strength." King David knew that security and victory come from God's strength, not ours. Earthly weapons don't make us strong, worshipping God does. Instead of relying on manmade "firepower", we must worship God and rely on His Higher power!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. Hebrews 12:1

God’s love for us and our love for Him is the foundation of our Christian faith, and that great cloud of witnesses are the faithful believers that have gone before us. They are experiencing the victory that is only obtained by "keeping the faith" and trusting God with every detail of our lives. When we experience God's love personally it changes us, and we are transformed to become more like Christ. If you're wondering how to love others, it's simple, just keep following in Jesus' footsteps. But to love God completely and others unconditionally will require a strong faith.

Without faith:

• We don't have a purpose.

• We won't mature spiritually.

• We can't trust God's promises.

• We easily lose our spiritual focus.

• Without faith, we can't please God.

Our Heavenly Father loves it when our prayers start out the way Psalm 18 does. Like David, just say "I love You, Lord."
