But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4: 7

When our Heavenly Father gave us His one and only Son, it allowed the Holy Spirit to dwell inside every believer. The moment we surrendered our life to God; He started transforming us into the likeness of His Son. You and I are the jars of clay; the gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit is the treasure that dwells within us. God's Word calls it a treasure because what we have is priceless!

"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Scripture repeatedly tells us that God doesn't measure us as the world does, He evaluates us based on our "heart" and our inner character. How will people know we've changed? The evidence of the Holy Spirit’s inner influence will be manifested in our outward character.

When we yield to the Holy Spirit's control:

  1. He empowers us to be more like Jesus.
  2. We are no longer controlled by our circumstances.
  3. He helps us produce the "fruits of the spirit" (Galatians 5:22-23).
  4. He works through us to accomplish what we cannot do on our own.
  5. If we stumble (sin), He nudges us to repent and guides us back to obedience.

The one who says he belongs to Christ should live the same kind of life Christ lived. 1 John 2:6 (NLV)

If anyone asks you to summarize what you believe, tell them something like this: The life of faith God designed for us is a simple three step process. First, we repent and receive Jesus into our heart. Next, we surrender to His will and ask God to change us. That starts us on a lifelong path of transformation, and every single day is a day we become more like Jesus!

Authentic Christianity isn't about doing, it's about becoming!
