So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

When we study Joseph's story in Genesis, we learn that he trusted God in all circumstances. Joseph didn't have most of the scriptures we have today to encourage us, but he trusted his earthly father's advice when Jacob told him “I am about to die, but God will be with you..." (Genesis 48:21).

As a child, I remember how sad and scared I was when I got old enough to understand my parents would die someday. I was sad when they passed, but I was grown by that time, and I already had a relationship with Jesus. Following Christ gave me the comfort of knowing I’d see them again in heaven.

As we read Genesis, we can clearly see that God was with Joseph, just as He was with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He continues to be with the nation of Israel today, but to obtain the promises God made to their patriarchs, every Jewish person must accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

As for us, if we're following Jesus, God is with us right now. Pause, and think about that... God is with us just like He was for Joseph! Every promise God made to the patriarchs are still available for us IF we're following Jesus. God's love and His promises endure forever, and His Word will never pass away. Take heart Christ follower, whatever circumstance you may find yourself in, God is with you!

If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

It's easy to recall God's faithfulness when we are examining our past, but it gets harder when our current circumstances aren't going very well. When facing the unknown, we don't have the same confidence we have when we look at our past. Bad news in life may get worse, but no matter what happens, remember you will be eternally victorious because of Jesus!

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18

Don't let the negativity in the world news get you down, keep your eyes on Christ and oppose evil. If bad things happen to us, God will use every one of our tears for His glory. Instead of worrying about our circumstances, let's trust God with the final outcome and believe in His eternal promises.

Don't just read stories about Jesus, follow Him wherever He leads you!
