Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel Isaiah 7:14
Immanuel's arrival was not an afterthought; He is the eternal plan of God fulfilled. The Messiah's birth was prophesied in the OT, long before it was fulfilled by Jesus in Bethlehem.
Jesus' birth is not a myth, fable, or a children's story; it’s an event that changed everything for everyone! Jesus came to earth as a baby, but He was fully God and fully man. When He arrived, we gained a living hope that we will have forever– Immanuel.
Jesus' birth gave us many opportunities:
- To be transformed; from death to eternal life (Romans 6:5-8).
- A new life in Christ; to become an entirely new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
- God's Comfort, no matter what trouble we may face (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
- God's peace, and it's a peace that transcends all understanding” (Philippians 4:6-7).
Jesus primary mission on earth was to seek and save the lost. His death on the cross bridged the gap between sinful man (us) and Holy God, and it reconciled us to our Heavenly Father. But Jesus’ time on earth also revealed God's attributes, His love, and His nature.
Christmas is the season for Christ followers to celebrate Jesus' birth. Be we must also "share" Jesus, because He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). A wonderful way to "share" Jesus is to invite someone to one of our Christmas Eve services. But Christ followers don't just celebrate Jesus on Christmas, we must intentionally seek Him daily. This season, be sure to celebrate how Jesus changed you, then "pay it forward" by telling someone what He is still doing in your life!
Remember, God is not done changing us, and many people in our world haven't changed because they haven't met Him yet. Others may have met Him, but they haven't made the decision to follow Him. Inviting them to Church might change everything!
But Jesus arrival on earth was only the beginning... His second coming will be the day He returns in all His Heavenly glory. On that day, and every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:11 (NASB)
This Christmas, make sure you tell Jesus how much you appreciate Him. Then, show Him how much you love Him by worshipping Him as you praise His Holy name!
