God's Love

This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10

From the start, God wanted to have a lasting relationship with His most precious creation—mankind. God’s love is active, sacrificial, and it is universally offered to everyone. God showed us the depth of His great love by sending us Jesus.

Lately, God has given me a hunger for studying the meaning of “God’s love.” I've been journaling for many years, and this topic has taken me through a variety of emotions. Years later, I still can’t describe God's love adequately or begin to understand this divine spiritual truth.

“Agape love is a supernatural love. A love that we know nothing about apart from God. It’s so deep, so wide and so high and so great and has such dimensions to it that no words in any language can describe it.”Billy Graham.

God's unconditional, sacrificial love is a forgiving, protective force that exists regardless of our behavior. It never fails, and it's not conditional either! For ages, people have tried to comprehend the meaning and depth of God's love. The vastness of the universe, the volume of stars, the depth of the ocean, and the beauty of creation all seem insignificant when they are compared to God's love.

When I see the mathematical symbol for “greater than” (>) it reminds me that God’s love is > everything! He places His love within Christ followers at salvation, and it starts transforming us into the image of His Son. As the scriptures say, ...the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

When Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30), it signified the completion of His earthly ministry. The prophecies about Him were fulfilled, and full payment was made for humanity's sin. Jesus' work on the cross freed us from bondage, gave us hope, and it allows us to anxiously anticipate our eternal destination. In Heaven, we'll understand God's love much better when Jesus wraps His arms around us!

God’s Love:

• Is unconditional.

• Never changes.

• Lasts forever.

• Is our unbreakable bond.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! 1 John 3:1 (NLT)

We'll never grasp (understand) the full meaning of God’s love, but that doesn't stop us from experiencing it. God's love is foundational, and it helps us learn to love others like He does. We can love because we are greatly loved!
