A Fork in the Road

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Psalm 143:8

The holiday season is upon us, and many people will be traveling. Some will navigate familiar roads to the homes of family and friends, but others will travel down entirely new paths. Technology is great, and many of us use the app on our phones to find the quickest route. But sometimes we have a choice to make, do we take the longer, more familiar road, or do we take an unfamiliar, quicker shortcut?

It's easy to get lost if we get off a familiar path. A simple journey can become difficult if you arrive at a fork in the road. Why? Because a wrong turn can change everything! Usually, only one of those paths leads to your destination. So, how do we know which road to take? We need to ask someone who knows the way!

Your Heavenly Father knows exactly which path we should take. He knows what we need, how we feel, and He knows how to guide our decisions. Remember, He knows what we need before we ever ask Him! But He wants us to seek His wise counsel, even for the choices we might see as insignificant.

Isn’t it incredible that God wants to be a part of our smallest decisions? As you begin your morning, think about every detail of your day. Then, think about the areas of your life that need a fresh glimpse of God’s presence. Imagine those options as your "fork in the road", then ask the Lord which way you should go.

God loves you, and He wants to show you the way home. Until we get to Heaven, "home" is our personal relationship with God, and our alignment with His will. Do you need God’s mercy today? Pray, and ask Him to lavish His love and mercy on you. Then, completely trust His guidance!

A suggested Prayer:

God, you know what I’m facing today. You know the areas of my life that need your mercy and grace. Please guide my decisions and choices, and help me always choose the path you have set before me. Thank you for your loving presence, and for the eternal hope you have placed in my heart!
