Yes and Amen!

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NLT)

This verse reminds us that every promise from God is fulfilled and confirmed through Jesus Christ. It also assures us of God's faithfulness and reliability. Our "Yes" and "Amen" are our affirmation that we believe God's promises.

The verse above comes from a letter Paul wrote to the church in Corinth, and it was a church that wrestled with many challenges. Our circumstances may be different, but we've all had something (or someone) in our lives that caused problems.

When churches or believers get off track, we have a "guidebook" we can turn to. God’s Word is our anchor, and we must tether our lives to it. The problems we face will change, but they all have an eternal solution. Our problem solver is Jesus Christ! Problems change, but Christ doesn't. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The Bible is centered on Jesus, and even the Old Testament points us towards Him. Since Genesis, God has promised us deliverance, salvation, blessings, and forgiveness. But the only way to obtain them is through our Messiah. Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s faithfulness! His life, death, burial, and resurrection confirm God's promises, and they are what reconciled us to our Heavenly Father. Jesus is alive, and He is the living guarantee that God’s Word never fails. Trust God! Everything He has spoken will come true.

All Christ followers are Christians, but everyone who says they are a Christian isn't a Christ follower. How do I know? Because I was one of them! What's the difference? Believing in God is "head knowledge" and it can be superficial. Following Jesus is "heart knowledge" and it describes a personal relationship with God that goes much deeper. Many people say they believe in God, but not all of them are willing to obey His commands.

God's gift of salvation is 100% free, and it's available to anyone who humbles themselves and seeks Him. When we turn away from our old life and repent (surrender) God forgives our sins and gives us a new heart, His heart! If we're following Jesus, it means we've completely surrendered every aspect of our lives to Him.

“Amen” is our word of agreement, so be sure you trust every promise in God's Word. Then, do what it says, Amen! Our “Amen” pleases God, and it brings Him glory. When we affirm our belief in God's promises, our faith brings Him honor.

When we completely trust God, we are proclaiming His faithfulness!
