Celebrating Your Salvation

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and unto an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.” 1 Peter 1:3-4a
One weekend we attended a business seminar, and they gave us a T-shirt to wear that said: Celebrate YES. The seminar's theme was to celebrate success in the making. To hype us up and focus our thoughts on success, we were asked to stand, clap, and yell, YES! YES! YES! Everyone's YES got progressively louder, which got our adrenalin flowing. It increased our positive thinking, and it got us excited for the start of each new session. The next day, as I thought about the "Celebrate YES" on my shirt, it took on a whole new meaning. To me, the words on my shirt now meant: Celebrate Your Eternal Salvation! Christ followers can celebrate that YES (our salvation) because God has adopted us into His family. As God's children, we have the right to receive an inheritance... our eternal salvation!
And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 1 Peter 1:4b-5 (NLT)
Every time we hear or sing the word salvation; it should remind us to be eternally grateful. Because of our sin, we are only worthy of eternal condemnation. But God graciously sent Jesus to rescue and redeem us, conforming us to His image. Salvation is what restored us into a "right relationship" with our Heavenly Father. Salvation also means we will experience the overwhelming beauty and joy of God forever!
...even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9
Our salvation is marvelous, mysterious, and majestic. In 1 Peter 1:12, God's Word tells us: "Even angels long to look into these things." It's hard to imagine, but the angels are constantly watching us, wondering who will respond to God’s gracious gift of salvation. Way better than those earthly seminars I attended, multitudes in heaven get excited when a single sinner comes to repentance. If Heaven gets excited and celebrates our salvation, then shouldn't we be doing the same down here?
Don't take eternity for granted, be sure to celebrate Your Eternal Salvation!
