indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Psalm 121:4

Are there ever times you've woken up and were unable to fall back asleep? When that happened to me, my problems would start racing through my head. But the middle of the night is not the best time for problem solving. The only thing that used to happen was a loss of rest. So, what do you do when you wake up in the middle of the night? Most of us probably don't get out of bed for fear of waking others up. Hopefully, we know it's unacceptable to "phone a friend" in the middle of the night too. But if we're wide awake, what should we do with our time?

We shouldn't phone a friend, but there is someone we can talk to, day or night, no matter what time it is. At 3:00 a.m. the Lord is ready, willing, and able to hear from us. Remember, our God never sleeps! Is something troubling you? Talk to the Lord. Are you concerned about a friend or family member? Talk to the Lord. Do you need wisdom? Talk to the Lord and ask Him for it. Your Almighty Heavenly Father loves to hear from you at any hour! Talking to God after midnight doesn't bother Him, it pleases Him!

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. Isaiah 40:28

The Lord is always willing to listen because He loves us so much. Our friends and family may be great listeners, but they will eventually grow weary... not because they don't love us, because they aren't able to understand us like God does. The Lord understands our fears and concerns at a level no one else can match. But God isn't just a great listener, He has the power and wisdom to solve our greatest problems! On your next restless night, spend that time talking to God. Instead of worrying about tomorrow, ask Him to give you His peace today.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

It took me awhile, but over the years I've realized some of my most productive times were on my sleepless nights. On those nights where I just couldn’t fall back asleep. When I learned to spend that time talking to God, those restless nights turned into sweet moments with my creator. When I talk to God, He replaces my anxiety and concerns with His blessings!
