God's Benefit Package

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation! Psalm 68:19 (NKJV)

Earthly benefit packages come in all sizes, and most people choose where they work based on the benefits offered: vacation time, sick time, retirement plans, and health insurance. The more benefits offered, the higher the company's retention rate may be. Benefits matter!

As Christ followers, we possess the ultimate, never-ending, eternal benefit package. Unfortunately, many Christians aren't utilizing every benefit that God provides. They received the gift of eternal salvation, but they didn't keep moving forward. Their walk with God seems to be at a standstill... They willingly received their "ticket to heaven", but they've failed to realize God gave them much, much more. As Jesus told us in Matthew 6:10, "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Notice that Jesus spoke those words in present tense, so many of our heavenly benefits and blessings are already available to us!

The moment we believed and asked Jesus to be our Lord and Savior; our spiritual benefit package became active (2 Peter 1:2-3). God is so good, He wants us to start enjoying His benefit package while we're still here on earth. To get started, just believe God's promises and trust His blessings (Psalm 103:2-5).

To help me remember God's benefits, I've developed an acronym I like to call "the six P's". Every morning, before my feet hit the floor, I review this list to remind me of:

1. God's Presence. He promises to never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

2. God's Peace. It exceeds our understanding, and it guards our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7).

3. God's Protection. He provides for us (Psalm 116:6) and fights our battles for us (Deuteronomy 20:4).

4. God's Provision. God will meet all our needs—perfectly, faithfully, and intentionally (Philippians 4:19).

5. God's Power. Through Christ, God's power is enough to overcome our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9).

6. God's Promises. God keeps all His promises, so every last one of them will be fulfilled someday (Joshua 21:45).

Employer benefit plans often require a 90-day probationary period before the benefits are accessible. But the moment God deposits His benefit package into our hearts they become instantly available. We don't have to pay for God's benefit package either, because Christ already purchased them for us on the cross!

How blessed we are to be called children of God! Our Heavenly Father lavishes us with His love, and He generously pours out blessings over us. It's such an incredible gift, it's hard to believe anyone would choose to reject it.
