“Call to me and I will answer you, and I will show you great and mighty things which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)

Do you ever "freeze up" when you need to make an urgent phone call? For many different reasons, at times we may dread calling doctors, family members, or close friends. We may even hesitate to return a missed call, thinking the person might be too busy to answer, or maybe we imagine our timing is bad, or our call isn’t important... As Christ followers, we should call on the Lord daily (Psalm 88:9). God wants to hear from you because everything about your life is important to Him. Your Heavenly Father will always accept your call, no matter what time of day or night it is. God is never too busy to answer a call from one of His precious children!

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:18

At age eleven, my parents bought me my first diary. Every day I wrote a little note in it to Jesus. I can remember my mom hearing me talking to someone when I was alone in my bedroom. I can still hear her voice as she questioned me, “Mae, who are you talking to in there?” Even as a child, for me, talking to God was personal. I just knew that God was always nearby, watching and listening to me, just as He still is today. Calling the Lord is just talking to Him in a simple, genuine way. Don't make it complicated, just talk to God like you're having a conversation with a close friend.

I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! Psalm 116:1-2 (NLT)

God is not far off and distant. We can communicate with our resurrected Lord because He's alive. We shouldn't call on the Lord because we have to, we must call on the Lord because we want to, because we love Him! Calling out to Him helps us turn our heart towards Him. Talking to God on a regular basis is vital, especially in these evil days that are filled with so many distractions.

Go ahead, make that call to your Heavenly Father, and do it today!
