Light in the Darkness

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. Matthew 5:15

Most of us are dismayed at the amount of moral decay in our nation, and our world seems to be getting darker by the day. Maybe Satan realizes his time is growing shorter, so the havoc he causes and the evil he instigates is increasing. Our nation was founded on godly principles and values, but it has slowly turned away from God and His commands. Deceit, corruption, and lies surround us, which has made many people lose hope for the future.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

But Christ followers are different. We know the root cause of evil – Satan. We have God on our side, and He gives us a great hope the world doesn't understand. The Holy Spirit abides in us, and He enables us to see past the world's evil. We see light in the darkness because we are viewing it from a different perspective. When evil things happen, the Holy Spirit helps us keep Christ at center of our thoughts and actions! ALL believers are obligated to bring light to the darkness, and to be a beacon of hope to the unsaved people around them.

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Philippians 1:27

The rise of evil should give us a sense of urgency to turn others toward Christ. If Satan know the days are getting shorter, we should too! Jesus told us the two greatest commandments are to - Love God and Love Others (Matthew 22:37-39). The best way to show our love for God and others is to tell someone about Jesus! Pray and ask God to use you. Ask Him to reveal how He wants you to reach others for His glory.

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—Romans 1:16 (NLT)

The time to shine is now! A great question to ask ourselves is this; "How bright will our own light be?"
