Worrier or Warrior?

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Luke 12: 25-26
In these verses, Jesus warned us that worrying can't change the future. Worry—the beast we all struggle with helplessly and needlessly. If we fight the beast of worry in our own strength, it becomes even more subversive. We may even end up worrying about worrying too much! Christ followers must recognize worry for what it is, and for what it does. Worry is disarming, and it's a deceptive tool Satan uses to take our eyes off God. Satan also uses worry to get us focused on things that won't likely happen.
Worry robs us of the peace, joy, and strength that God gives us today by causing us to focus on what might happen tomorrow. As Corrie ten Boom said, “Worry doesn't empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.” Worry renders us powerless because we can't fix what we're worrying about in our own strength. Worry can render us hopeless if we don't completely trust God to handle our problems.
Worry can change us by causing us to be ungrateful. When we worry, we fixate on what we don’t have instead of enjoying what we do have. Worrying about everything will drain us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It will also make us ineffective witnesses for Christ. After all, how can we tell someone to trust God and believe in a Savior when we're overly worried about our future?
Jesus also said, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes." Luke 12:22-23
When life seems overwhelming, we are all prone to worry. It's common, and that's why we tend to excuse it. That's why it's critical to recognize worry for what it is: Sin. Christ follower, listen to Jesus and don't give in to worry. Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) Make God’s will your priority. Cast all your anxieties on Christ, knowing that He loves you, gave His life to set you free, and cares deeply for you. (I Peter 2:5,7) Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (Ephesians 6:11)
Don’t be a worrier, that's what Satan wants you to be! Instead, be the warrior God has empowered you to be!
