The King’s daughter is all glorious within; her clothing is interwoven with gold. – Psalm 45:13-16 (NASB)
We have been “fearfully and wonderfully made,” and “woven together in the depths of the earth” (Psalm 139:14-15) for the good works God prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10). Jesus Christ is our King, and when we submit to His authority, we become part of His church. God's Word tells us the church is the bride of Christ. That means a Christ follower's beauty is elevated to a whole new level: royal beauty, and it applies to both males and females.
- Jesus sacrificed His life for us before we chose to follow Him.
- We leave our former attachments behind to unite with Jesus.
- We must respectfully submit ourselves to Jesus’ divine headship.
- Jesus sanctifies us and washes us clean with the water of His Word.
- Jesus loves us as parts of His own body – nourishing and cherishing us.
- Jesus transforms us into a royal bride: holy and blameless, without spot or wrinkle.
...he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
The pictorial meaning of the Hebrew word for “bride” (כַּלָּה – “kallah”) is: “that which results from completion.” Completion occurs, in part, through faith-testing trials that produce endurance (James 1:2-4). When we unite with Jesus – He completes us.
Your New Identity
God views all His children through the blood of Jesus. Because of Christ's sacrifice, God sees us as being righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21). Your old self died the moment you followed Jesus; your new self has been raised up and it is seated with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). Jesus’ blood changed our identity from “sinner” to “saint” – we are citizens of heaven, children of the King, and a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). We may not have our glorified bodies yet, but our eternal life has already begun!
…He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. – Isaiah 61:10
If you still see yourself as a sinful, flawed, work-in-progress – be sure to own your new identity that God's Word promises! It came at a high cost, it was purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ – Then, imagine you are wearing your royal robe of righteousness that Isaiah wrote about.
