“Whoever acknowledges Me before others, I will also acknowledge before My Father in heaven.” Matthew 10:32
Standing up for Jesus is another way of saying we are "acknowledging’" Him. To be a strong witness, we will often need to take a stand for Jesus. Someday, when we finish our race, He will stand before His Father to acknowledge and welcome us. Jesus sacrificed His life to restore our relationship with God. If we'll acknowledge Him, He will help us through our biggest struggles. When we stumble, He will be right there to pick us back up.
Taking a stand for Christ can be challenging, but the Holy Spirit will give us the strength to stand up for Christ. Sometimes, when we share our faith, it seems to fall on deaf ears. But when the smallest seed gets sown, it will eventually have the opportunity to grow. We sow; God waters and brings the growth.
- We must stand in faith, and trust God with the outcome.
- We must stand strong on the foundation of God's promises.
- We must stand firm, holding tightly to the truth of Jesus' gospel.
It won't always be easy, but we must always "stand up" for Jesus in a hostile world. Jesus modeled this for us by standing up to the religious leaders of His day. He boldly went against cultural norms and wasn't afraid to rebuke false doctrine. When we acknowledge Him, we become His voice in the modern world.
Every time we sing the “Son of Suffering” at church, I get a graphic picture in my mind of what Christ did for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one who sheds a tear or two during that song. Singing that song reminds me how much Jesus loves me! It reminds me of His suffering and His promises, His grace and His mercy, and when it ends, I think about my future life in heaven with Him. Jesus willingly gave up His life for us, so shouldn't we willing be to stand up for Him?
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends! Philippians 4:1
